THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHAMBLY HELD ITS FIRST PAPERLESS PUBLIC ASSEMBLY LAST JANUARY.
Elected officials were able to access the agenda and all documentation in electronic format, using the SyGed software package, which is used to manage council meetings, as well as plenary committees, caucuses, advisory groups and meetings of the Urban Planning Advisory Committee. Elected officials and public servants involved in the preparation of council assemblies are equipped with laptops, thus completely eliminating the need for paper. This change will save over 25,000 sheets of paper annually.
In addition, to help members of the public improve their understanding of certain items on the agenda, as well as projects under development, the City will display the information on a television screen designed for this purpose, during assemblies.
