Following the special meeting of the City of Chambly Municipal Council, which took place on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, new measures have been implemented by the municipality to assist residents and respond to new Government of Quebec requirements concerning the COVID-19 pandemic.
Special Tax Measures
In order to alleviate the tax burden of residents and businesses, the City of Chambly is waiving interest on property taxes, rates for municipal services and the real estate transfer tax due between March 24, 2020, and June 30, 2020. The 0% interest rates will be maintained until June 30, 2020, and will be re-established at 10% per annum starting July 1st, 2020.
The municipality has developed a contingency and business continuity plan, which will be implemented starting March 25, 2020, in order to respond to government directives, while ensuring that high priority and essential services are maintained for residents. These measures will be in place for a period of three weeks, i.e., until April 14, 2020, unless otherwise specified.
More than ever, the municipality encourages residents to use online services by visiting the website ville.chambly.qc.ca.
All parks, playgrounds, outdoor sports surfaces as well as the Chambly Dog Park are closed until further notice. All municipal buildings are also closed to residents.
Indoor and outdoor gatherings are forbidden. Where possible, individuals must keep a distance of two metres between them.
A section dedicated to COVID-19 can be accessed at all times on the website ville.chambly.qc.ca.
