The City of Chambly signed an agreement with its school crossing guards, as part of the renewal of the collective agreement, following negotiations between the municipality administration and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, local chapter 1689, held in a spirit of collaboration and goodwill.

This new collective agreement, ratified for a period of eight years (2019 to 2026), ensures the maintenance of industrial peace for years to come within the municipality. This agreement, which is favourable to both parties, gives crossing guards competitive wages, including a salary catch-up, and recognizes the specific nature and quality of their work.

It should be noted that all school crossing guards in the City of Chambly provide an essential service to ensure the safety of children in various neighbourhoods of the municipality, especially at intersections by school zones, to prevent accidents in these areas.
